Our farm products
produce & plants
It’s easy to eat with the seasons when you get your produce from our farm! We grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables. Our growing season is longer thanks to our large high tunnel.
Our greenhouse enables us to start our own plants and sell some to help you grow your own food! We always have time to talk about our growing practices and how to prepare produce for tasty simple meals for your family!
eggs
Our eggs come from happy named chickens! They have a large run with overhead protection and are let out nightly to forage under our supervision due to predator pressure.
They eat a healthy non-GMO premium layer feed from Dunreath Farm in Hanover and enjoy the daily company of our daughter (who is occasionally seen walking them on a leash or helping them don an accessory).
honey
In the summertime you will get to enjoy our honey from hives right on our farm. We plant plenty of flowers to keep them happy and often let herbs flower. Basil is among their favorites!
Skip the sugar, reap the wellness benefits of local honey, and support a local farm who supports our honey bee population!
How and why we farm
At Simple Roots Farm, we believe the “root” to wellness is simpler than you think! Eat real food from farmers you trust and make time to enjoy moving your body, especially in the great outdoors!
We use natural growing practices with NO toxic chemical fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or pesticides. We always strive to be good stewards of the land and your health. That’s why we use farming methods that enhance the life of our soil like cover cropping, crop rotation, minimal tillage, composting and natural amendments.
Most produce you buy in stores today has 40% fewer minerals and vitamins than 70 years ago. The average distance the produce travels is 1500 hundred miles! When you buy food grown safely by local farmers, it tastes better, lasts longer and is more nutritious. Your decision to shop at a local farm also benefits your local economy and helps farmers like us continue to grow healthy food.
Having a trusted local source of nutritious food gives you peace of mind. We care about your health and quality of life and aim to help you reach your wellness goals, whether it’s combatting disease or pursuing prevention and longevity.
